Auditel Christmas Lunch

We’ve just returned back from another fantastic lunch at Hotel Du Vin in Winchester. Auditel were one of our very first clients when we started Sugar in 2007 and we are always very kindly included in their annual end of year celebration, which just happens to take place early in the New Year.

While we are assured of a great meal at Hotel Du Vin, we really need to mention Auditel’s resident wine buff Derek Chisnall, who never fails to select something perfect to accompany the lunch.

The Sausage Tree Charity

The Sausage Tree Charity works to provide funding for three schools in the Luangwa Valley region in Zambia. This unspoilt corner of Zambia is dominated by the South Luangwa National Park, a haven for african wildlife. The park does provide employment, but most families in this area live in poverty and struggle to provide even the most basic education to children in the area.

Established in 2000 by husband and wife team, Lu and Will Chignell, the charity was born out of their desire to help local children achieve an education despite the lack of government funding and the struggle for local families to meet even their most basic needs of food, clothes and medicines.

Evolving Networks using WordPress

Evolving Networks are a specialist provider of bonded broadband solutions. Bonded Broadband is the physical ‘bonding’ of multiple ADSL or SDSL lines to create one single connection that will boost speed and usability. Evolving have very quickly built up an impressive list of clients including the Imperial War Museum, Vets4Pets, Pukka Pads, KIDS Charity, BVT, Thales, BAE Systems and many others.

Evolving approached SUGAR to develop the WordPress templates for an existing design and we are very close to being able to launch a brand new version of the Evolving Networks site that is fully updateable. This site makes use of the new custom post types facilities in WordPress 3.0 to make it easier to manage the FAQ pages.

Hiding unstyled div that shows on page load

In the spirit of sharing web development tips and techniques:

Have you come across a situation where you have a javascript carousel or accordian that is fairly content heavy? When the page loads the list items or the div content flash onto the screen until the page loads and then the whole page “pops” into place. Very annoying effect when you’re on a slower connection.
